Track #5, Iceman
This one was deliberately run with a 3/4 timing, even though the opening is 4/4. I had a vision of walking through a great snowfield with some driving purpose, but couldn’t get the words out. My co-collaborator in all this, John Richter, started writing words for the imagery, and before we knew it, it was a tale of climate change, with a hint of methamphetamine addiction.
Iceman
The beach was wide, as we followed the tide, to the place where the prophet lives.
As the wind swirled, and the waves curled; the smell only saltwater gives.
Then sitting in gridlock, all of one flock: chasing the morning goal.
You’re on the web, your phone’s at an ebb: feel the music in your soul.

Guarding the Shrine-
Walking along the Line…
Hear the trucks roar, up from the core; in a cloud of dust.
The gold is all black, the world’s out of whack; just waiting for the bust.
A hole in the ground, poison around: in the rising gust.
What’s right or wrong, the truth is along, in what we have to trust.

Walking along the Line…
Hear the guns roar; down on the poor, as they’re crying out for more:
They call for bread, but we sell them instead; ice from the sugar-man’s store.
Let them eat cake, while their children we take; and tie them up with the Law-
And steal all their clothes, and beat them with hose- just what are we fighting for?

Walking along the Line…
The skies are deep blue, the Ocean is, too; shining down from Deep Above.
Plan for your needs; eradicate weeds: long balance and short shove.
At the turning of wheels, and the eating of meals: fit your Soul-dream, like a glove.
Though the World is on fire, and the pile just gets higher: Never sell the things that you Love.

Walking along the Line…
The Climate has changed; across the Range: jumping, like a frog,
From searing heat to bitter cold: we’re peering through a fog.
The snowfield glows white, all day and all night; from Autumn through to Spring.
White Bear tracks as the Winter Ice cracks, and the Iceman doeth sing.
